It is educational, designed in circular with a different scene on each side and corner (mountain, forest, beach, port, village, farm, prairie and back to mountain.). It can be drawn on with fabric pens, heavy enough to use as a picnic blankets or wrap or turned into a bag using the ancient Japanese technique (furoshiki) of folding fabric, a little like origami. Play mat comes with different furoshiki folding instructions.
